Where it all leads: Future Learning
The process of completing this portfolio has been challenging and rewarding. It's been an exercise in reflection, application, time management, and collaboration. Though I have enjoyed my time in the program, I am eager to focus on improving my practice, and joining projects of interest, like e-learning for kids and P2PU.
As innovation continues to change the nature of learning and the world of tomorrow, we must prepare ourselves and our students for the future. As an educator and learner, I will continue to participate in educational discourse to remain current in my professional practice by continuing my HRM studies, and completing AQ courses. I will prepare myself for leadership positions by taking the Principal's Course and applying to board specialist positions as I continue to gather teaching experience through supply and LTO work. I will remain active on Twitter and Scoop.it to share and discuss important issues in my field, and have begun to compile my learning on a website geared toward providing specific ideas for using online tools in the classroom. These activities will prepare me and allow me to prepare my students, for a changing future.
The form of this engagement may be informal, through discussions with colleagues, social networking, and reflection; or formal, in additional qualification courses or continued higher education. I will work to further improve the online learning environments in which I work, and approach professional development with a new perspective. One way I will do this will be in my role in LDCSB ENG4U online summer school. I have previously been a teacher, but will consider taking the role of lead teacher and working with the programmers to improve delivery and pedagogy of the course. I know I will continue to educate myself through participation in professional development and personal courses of interest. As a result of my experience, I look forward to taking on more leadership roles in my work, and in the larger community.
My continued pursuit of learning will almost certainly be online. From my experience in the Master of Education program at UOIT, I take with me an appreciation of the challenges and capabilities of technology in education and in online learning, and the many ideas and resources I have amassed over my time here. I strongly believe that online learning and online tools have a place in education, and I look forward to applying my learning to innovate and transform the classrooms and boardrooms of the future.

Acknowledgements
I extend my thanks the faculty and staff at UOIT: Your guidance, expertise, and patience has inspired me in my own teaching practice and encouraged and motivated me in my pursuit of the Masters of Education.
To my fellow M.Ed students, my learning would not have been possible without your collaboration. It has been a pleasure getting to know so many of you over the past year and a half. The friendships and professional relationships we have forged will last well beyond graduation.
Finally, thank you to my family. I would not have been able to do this without you! I thank my husband for his infinite patience with my crazy schedule and willingness to mute the television when I needed to go on mic for group discussions and presentations, and, in the last 6 months, his ability to put a screaming baby to bed without her mommy. And I thank my mother and sister who have been more than helpful watching my daughter while I work on this Portfolio! Capstone projects DO NOT write themselves!
I have enjoyed the journey and look forward to the road ahead.
